A Philosophy to Life: The Eye of the Storm

You can’t control other people. You can’t control how they feel or what they think. You cannot control their actions. It is impossible for you to direct how life goes. It will be messy, it is unpredictable, and all of it is out of your control. Even if you have the illusion of control, it is ultimately just a mental construct that you have clung onto. The truth is, there is no control, and life is organic. It moves with the tides, it ebbs and flows. There is no direction with which you will be in control. You will get hurt. Things will not play out as planned. Life moves you away from the things you thought you wanted to make room for better things. This is the truth. The only anchor you will find in changing times is the one inside you. The clarity of who you are, the integrity in which you stand. If you have a connection with yourself, you are at peace with who you are, everything around you can change. You are rocksolid. Because there is clarity. There is acceptance. There is love for self. There is enough peace and clarity within, that the changing tides outside of you cannot affect you.

I have lost everything at some point. I used to stand in my clarity. Firmly rooted. I used to be able to dance with life. Balancing on one foot. And then there came a time when the waves came crashing in on me. They were heavy, they were violent, and I was drowning. I thought I would never be able to get back up again. To recover from this storm. However, this storm turned out to be one of the most beautiful times in my life. Total destruction. Chaos. And there is a beauty in chaos. A reorganisation of life. The tender openings of the new. The fresh sprouting of the buds in a promising spring. It is life, finding its way back through the crooks and crevices, into that which has lost its life. It is the mercy and grace of life. The grace to revive that which is in need. The grace to unapologetically release and destroy that which is no longer aligned with life, with harmony, with the Divine. If you hold on to something too long, you will feel the darkness creeping in. Its expiration date has arrived. It is time to release it. The longer you hold on to it, the heavier it gets.

When you travel light, you allow that which has lost life to return to the Source. You trust in the Divine, and its healing powers, and that everything will be taken care of. There is no loss in an all-encompassing, infinite universe of Love. You simply allow life to take it away with the tides, that which has run its course, that which is in need of rejuvenation, and be returned to its loving, infinite Source. You will one day die, and follow the tides back to the same Source. And while you’re here, it is you who is the anchor to your existence. The one who can choose to go with the changes. The only one who you have to stay truthful to. The one who you cannot betray. Your own inner essence, which shines first upon yourself and then out into the world. Your inner truth. Attempting to control life outside of you is backwards. It is what they teach, to keep your focus on the changing world around you. When you are centered at the seat of your being, you can flow with the tides. Your life is the storm, ever-changing. The essence of who you are is the eye of the storm. Unshaken, solid, true.
